Microsoft Launches Xbox 360 Dashboard Update

As promised last week, Microsoft has released a mandatory update to the X360 dashboard. No new features, just a bunch of fixes and tweaks to address problem users reported since its launch, such as improvements to the Xbox Guide, save game logic improved, empty friends after muting people in backwards compatible Xbox titles, more detailed messaging for unreadable disk or region errors, the option to only delete the profile and to leave all save data, and several other adjustments...

'Warlords V' Revealed

Infinite Interactive has revealed that it is currently working on the latest installment in their Warlords franchise. While no specific information was revealed Infinite Int. did confirm Warlords V is in early stages of development and will most likely not be released in 2006. No publisher has been signed yet, and wile no additional game details were revealed, one of the key goals is making the game mod-friendly. A handheld version, Warlords Champions, is scheduled for PSP & NDS.

VUGames Reports Full Year 2005 Revenues Up

Eventhough holidays sales disappoint, VU Games' revenues of EUR 641 million were up 34.9% compared to 2004, driven by its subscription-based MMORPG World of Warcraft as well as the fourth quarter release 50 Cent: Bulletproof, the gritty urban action game starring hip-hop artist 50 Cent. Other top sellers during 2005 included Robots, Hulk II, F.E.A.R., Crash Tag Team Racing and strong sales in North America from the distribution of Delta Force: Black Hawk Down and FlatOut.

'S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl' Lost In Oblivion?

An article on, translated by GGMania, seems to indicate that STALKER: Shadow of Chernobyl might be in some serious trouble. THQ is said to have cut off financing back in November, a team developing a new graphics engine left shortly after being brought on board, taking with them the source and part of the original develpment team has either been fired or moved onto another project. End of last year THQ ordered an audit of the project and a representative is expected to be on site shortly, and possibly take STALKER to another developer.

Update : GSC's Oleg Yavorskiy says "only 5 people were let go as the new graphics engine nears completion, others went to Heroes of Annihilated Empires. STALKER is almost finished."
