'Prey' (X360/PC) Weekly Update #23

Last week's update got lost in the demo release excitement so after a hiatus Human Head Studios' Chris Rhinehart is back with the weekly Prey update. Since the Prey went gold not much happened so Chris gives us a little background information on why they decided to make the demo rather big in content, but most important bit of information is the fact that there are plans for additional content, and maps in the works.

EA Mythic Teams up With 'Ultima Online' Studio

An update on the official Ultima Online website reveals that with the acquisition of Mythic, the UO team will be teaming up with the creative folks behind Dark Age of Camelot and who are currently working on Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning. Both development teams will work together to forge Britannia’s future and once the plans are finalized, announcements will be made, but in the meantime the in-game fiction cycle is put on hold.

'TrackMania United' Announced

TrackMania United is the complete TrackMania game, regrouping all the TrackMania games released until now and all their add-ons. The Stadium environment from TrackMania Nations, will benefit from a new version with twice more blocks, while integrating a whole new set of functionalities both for online and solo play.

Market Research Indicates Sony Might Lose Its Dominant Position

Strategic market research firm DFC Intelligence has released a new report talking a look at next gen consoles, in particular the impact of the PS3 on Sony's dominant position. With a price range at least $200 dollars higher than its competitors, DFC concludes that Sony may very well fall from first to last position if things do not go their way, also stating it has not seen anything to justify the price difference.

Outstanding Taxes Cost Sony $243 Million

Sony Computer Entertainment revealed today it had been ordered to pay an additional 27.9 billion yen ($243 million) in taxes related to transactions between its game unit and a U.S. subsidiary, and overseas transactions in its CD and DVD-making operations. SCEI said it would fight the order, but that either way it would not have a large impact on its group earnings.

'Prey' (X360) Demo Coming This Weekend

Prey is serious, dark story, based on authentic Cherokee mythology. Themes of sacrifice, love and responsibility are explored and the story dives into emotional territory not yet explored by similar games. Two weeks later than initially planned it seems the Xbox 360 demo for Prey will finally be available on Xbox Live Marketplace this Sunday, 2nd July.

'Ridge Racers 2' (PSP) - 13 New Screens

Graphically Ridge Racers 2 does not look much different than the original, but the sequel will feature a total of 42 circuits, 62 cars, and 3 new game modes Arcade, Duel and Survival. 'Titan Quest' v1.01 Patch In The Works

Iron Lore revealed that it is already working on the first patch for its just released RTS game Titan Quest. While there is no pinned down release date yet, so far the developers have addressed several issues: character corruption on saved games caused by crashes, smarter (improved) inventory placement when you pick up Items, dialog windows closing when bumping NPCs, and improved multiplayer performance on 5 & 6 player games. They are also looking into various crash bugs and working their way through the collected data.
