'Afrika' (PS3) Coming in August?

Afrika is a next gen game for the PS3 featuring faithful replications of much of Africa's flora and fauna. Ever since SCEA the first glimpse of it at E3 2006, there has been hardly any news, but according to a new product listing on Play Asia that might all change soon as it's currently scheduled for August 2008, but as usual Sony has no comment.

Halycon Planning Movies And Games Based on Philip K. Dick Novels

When Halcyon Games made its entry into the entertainment industry as a movie/game production company it revealed a game based on the upcoming Terminator 4 was in development. Halcyon Games also has the first-look rights to the 44 novels and 120 short stories of famed sci-fi writer Philip K. Dick (Minority Report, Total Recall). In the past only Blade Runner (EA) and Ubik (Cryo) have been made into games, and Halcyon plans on making movies and two games based on the sci-fi writer's work.

The July issue of Electronic Gaming Monthly reveals that the next installment in the Medal of Honor franchise might be leaving its familiar WWII theatre, similar to Activision's Call of Duty series, and the rumor column says we can expect a new MoH title in 2009, set in war-torn Afghanistan. Similarly, 2KGames is said to be reviving Spec Ops, transforming the budget title into an AAA game, set in the Middle Eastern city of Dubai.

The virtual football season came to an explosive end at FIFA Interactive World Cup (FIWC) Final at the Sony Centre in Berlin. 32 of the world’s best interactive footballers met face to face displaying tactics and skill on FIFA 08 on PS3. Alfonso Ramos beat Michael Ribeiro from the United States 3:1, securing the title and the $20,000 USD prize money.

Brash Entertainment President Resigns

Last year Brash Entertainment announced its entry into the video game industry promising to be a link with the movie industry, signing various movie licenses such as the upcoming Saw, Space Chimps etc. So far its first two titles Alvin & the Chipmonks and Jumper (sold a mere 16,000 units) were rather mediocre, and whether this is a direct cause or not is not certain yet, but Variety reports that co-founder and president Nicholas Longano has left the building.

Last year EA released the original Command & Conquer game for free to celebrate the 12 year anniversary of the franchise. This high resolution patch allows you to switch C&C to 1024x768 resolution and back without needing any additional tools (thx Blues).
