A Thai 18-year-old high school student confessed to robbing and murdering a 54-year-old taxi driver with a knife on Monday, claiming he wanted to find out if it was as easy in real life to rob a taxi as it was in GTA IV. Police said
the teen was an obsessive player of the video game, showed no sign of mental problems and confessed committing the crime explicitly because of the game. If found guilty, he faces death by lethal injection. Thailand currently has no game ratings, but the Thai distributor dropped the game due to this incident.

Battlefield Heroes is an all-new Play 4 Free cartoon-style shooter that will bring classic Battlefield gameplay to an all new mass audience, featuring a built-in matchmaking system to ensure that players of equal skill are paired together for fair play. Midway released its Q2 2008 financial results revealing net revenues dropped from Q2 2007's $31.8 million to $23.4 million, albeit ahead of the estimated $18 million. Losses more than doubled from Q2 2007's $14.3 million to $34.8 million.

Set five years after the original, San Vanelona's been rebuild after it was hit by a natural disaster. Skate 2 will sport a Tiger Woods-like character editor, allow you to play as a girl, and have no load times when teleporting to a session marker. The game now also allows you to get off your skateboard and move objects around in the world to open new pathways, while pedestrians will automatically move out of your way.

While there is no official announcement yet, Acquire is developing the next installment in the Way of the Samurai franchise, currently only scheduled for release in Japan this fall. Way of the Samurai 3 will feature over 100 weapons for you to wield in defense of the poor, lonely, while fending off rivaling samurai clans.

A 400-year-old clue in the coffin of Sir Francis Drake sets modern-day fortune hunter Nathan Drake on an exploration for the fabled treasure of El Dorado, leading to the discovery of a forgotten island in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. As we mentioned last week, Naughty Dog has released a 13mb patch (v1.01) for Uncharted adding 48 trophies. Unfortunately these are not retroactive, so you'll need to replay the game.

According to the Office of Film and Literature, Australian equivalent of the ESRB, Tozai Games, currently already working on Lode Runner for Xbox Live Arcade, will be bringing R-Type Dimensions to XBLA as it has just been given a "general" classification. For the people not in the know, R-Type is Irem’s legendary coin operated side-scrolling shoot'm up (aka schmup) arcade game that has been around since the 80s.

Burnout Paradise gives players license to wreak havoc in Paradise City's seamless racing battleground, with traffic-heavy roads to abuse. While Criterion release the Cagney update on PS3 last month, adding 3 brand new FreeBurn game modes, 2 new cars, 70 new challenges, and the usual fixes and tweaks, it took until today for the X360 version of the update to become available.
