Korean Online Games to Exceed $1.7 Billion by 2011

A new “Games Market in Korea” study finds that approximately 67% of Korean users in their 20s purchase paid digital content, with one of the fastest growing segments being casual games, that are free-to-play, easy-to-learn and can be played in “micro-slices” of time of ten minutes or less. Current forecast indicates the online games market in South Korea will exceed $1.7 billion by 2011, driven by new releases and an ingrained gaming culture.

While an earlier rumor by German Heise Online that the game would be a PS3 timed exclusive was quickly debunked, Sony confirmed that PS3 owners will be able to download exclusive content through the PlayStation Network, although details nor a release date were revealed.
