Sometimes It's Interesting To See Just How Bad Bad Writing Can Be

by Rainier on March 15, 2011 @ 12:00 a.m. PDT | Filed under MOTD

I know I'm a few years late, but I've managed to check out Planet Calypso, and it's rather fun. Even though it uses the CryEngine 2, the graphics are mediocre and it has decent character customization. Above all, it is fun to play, especially with a few friends. Obviously it has a huge world, there's lots of exploration to do, a good crafting system, and a great variety of weapons and vehicles (land- and air-based).

On a lesser note, I also tried Battle: Los Angeles, and while it follows key moments from the movie, it does not sound like it includes any of the actors' voices, no cut scenes to speak of (I don't count comic book-type slideshows) and above all, it's WAY too short. I'm not a fast gamer, and I wrapped up the game in about an hour, give or take. Saber Interactive did a good job, taking into account the game was announced a month before it was released (and I was quite impressed with the character movements), but there simply isn't much value in this title.

Speaking of value, if you are a Halo: Reach fan and aren't following our Twitter yet, now might be the time to do so, as we'll be giving away a few Defiant map pack codes.
