Australian screenwriter Stuart Beattie, known for writing Pirates of the Caribbean, Collateral and most recently G.I. Joe and Gears of War movies, turns out to be a big Halo fan, and, according to Latino Review has penned a spec screenplay based on Eric Nylund's movel Halo: The Fall of Reach in an attempt to revive the project after movie studios Universal Studios and Fox backed out of the deal with Peter Jackson and Microsoft. A spec screenplay means "speculative," a term used for somebody writing a script on hisr own behalf, without payment.
