Monday, September 29, 2008 Shipping Announcements

by Rainier on Sept. 29, 2008 @ 4:32 a.m. PDT

Another day, another batch of games shipped to stores. Instead of giving them all their own posts, we grouped them, and so far there are announcements for:

Harvest Moon: Tree of Tranquility (Wii)

The launch continues the ten-year anniversary celebration of the popular Harvest Moon franchise. The ten-year commemoration includes special anniversary packaging, various retail promotions with special collectible pre-order plush toys, an exclusive 10th anniversary DS Lite Kit, strategy guides, and many more specialty items.

"We are proud to release Harvest Moon for the first time on the Nintendo Wii platform," said Hiro Maekawa, President and CEO of Natsume. "With the new setting, characters, motion-sensitive controls, and the most refined gameplay yet, we're sure that both Harvest Moon fans and new players alike will be delighted with Harvest Moon: Tree of Tranquility."

Long-time Harvest Moon fans as well as new players will find an exciting, involving storyline and plenty of activities to experience, including cultivating crops, caring for animals, and participating in festivals.

In Harvest Moon: Tree of Tranquility, players find themselves in a troubled island town which once prospered with life and energy, but is now in serious trouble. The mystical Mother Tree that once watched over the island has disappeared, and the Harvest Goddess is nowhere to be found! The island has lost its connection with nature and the inhabitants don't know what to do - it's up to the player to save the island! Players will help to rebuild the island by working the land, befriending and raising animals, nurturing friendships, and creating a family. When the Mother Tree is reborn, the Harvest Goddess will return and bring prosperity to the island once more.

Harvest Moon: Tree of Tranquility, rated E for Everyone, is available at retail for an MSRP of $49.99.

Rebel Raiders: Operation Nighthawk (Wii)

Rebel Raiders is a must have title for all gamers who crave non-stop combat in the high heavens. A fast-paced, action-packed thriller with devastating weapons, spectacular explosions and impressive special effects, Rebel Raiders delivers the intensity and excitement of navigating dangerous enemy skies with the goal of ultimate supremacy.

As a member of the Ghost Squadron, players will be immersed quickly into battle as they easily operate the aircraft controls using both the Wii remote and nunchuk. The game's 34 unique missions can be navigated with 23 different fighter planes, allowing players to fly at amazing speeds. By completing missions and defending the front line, the player earns points for a chance to fly top-secret planes with devastating weapons.

Developed by Kando Games, Rebel Raiders: Operation Nighthawk, rated E10+, has a suggested retail price of $29.99.

Disgaea DS (NDS)

Disgaea DS builds upon the original Disgaea’s intuitive battle system and quirky storyline by incorporating refreshing new features.

Players will initially take on the role of Overlord Laharl, a young demon prince who has just woken from a two-year long nap and finds out that his father, who was the king, has passed away. In order to regain his rightful title as King of the Netherworld, Laharl sets off on a demonic adventure, but must do so with a back stabbing servant, love stupid angel, and a few disgruntled penguins who are looking for trouble.

Disgaea’s game system is simple yet addictive. It has the same basic concept as other strategy RPGs, but uses many unique features and enhancements that make this game unprecedented.

Special Features:

  • Geo Panels – A group of stat-altering elemental properties that are placed upon certain parts of the battlefield. When there are one or more colored panels on the battle grid, it means an element can affect that area. The effect can boost or reduce your unit’s stats.
  • Geo Cubes – A new addition to the PSP version, Geo Cubes are magic items that add more depth to multi-player battles. You can use the various Geo Cubes to enhance
your abilities, summon monsters, or even attack your enemies with them.
  • Demon Gadgets – Randomly generated items that appear on the battlefield. By acquiring these gadgets, you can power-up your units. Some demon gadgets can level your unit up by 30 levels at once.

Rhapsody: A Musical Adventure (NDS)

Developed by Nippon Ichi Software Rhapsody is a unique musical RPG title that truly appreciates the dual screen lay out of the Nintendo DS. With a simple yet exciting battle system and a comical storyline, gamers will rediscover the classic RPG genre.

Originally released in 2000, Rhapsody ~A Musical Adventure~ is a musical RPG that has musical numbers, complete with vocals. The game has a wide appeal thanks to its simple game style and clean anime art.

Players will take on the role of Cornet, who can talk to puppets and has a magical horn that grants wishes. She must save Prince Ferdinand, who has been turned into stone by an evil witch.

Key Features

  • Redeveloped to take advantage of the dual screen layout
  • An all-new easy to follow navigation map

  • Additional playable characters

You still have the opportunity to PRE-ORDER Combat Mission Shock Force: Marines and profit from the $10 discount on the "Download & Hardgoods Delivery" option! But hurry! The offer expires as soon as the game is released!

Once the game switches from Pre-Order to Release status later this month, you will be able to choose from three delivery options: Download Only ($25), Hardgoods Only (via mail - $25 plus S&H), and Download & Hardgoods ($35 plus S&H).

In all cases, ownership of the base game - Combat Mission Shock Force - is required. It doesn't matter which version you own (retail, Battlefront.com etc.) - MARINES will work with all game versions. If you don't own CMSF, no worries - we offer a special Bundle version of the base game + the Marines Module for just $45 as well!

All pre-order customers will be notified by email a few hours before the official release announcement and will be able to download the game immediately AND will receive the hardgoods by mail when available. We are expecting Hardgoods (specifically consisting of: DVD case, CD, and printed MARINES Manual, including a hotkey chart printed on the inside cover) to be available 2-4 weeks after the official download release.

While the MARINES module is being prepared for release, we are also going to finalise a large - no, make that HUGE - v1.10 patch for the base game CMSF. This v1.10 patch literally brings the game to another level. It is already fully INCLUDED in the Marines Module (i.e. Marines module owners will NOT have to patch).
