Another day, another batch of games shipped to stores. Instead of giving them all their own posts, we grouped them, and so far there are announcements for:

Afro Samurai (PS3/X360)

A merciless action adventure game centered on revenge, Afro Samurai brings together the creative best from the worlds of Hollywood and hip-hop music to deliver an unparalleled entertainment experience.

“Afro Samurai exemplifies our corporate vision of developing sophisticated and immersive gaming experiences complete with intense action and in-depth story lines,” said Todd Thorson, director of marketing and public relations at NAMCO BANDAI Games America, Inc. “Combining the visual flair of Japanese esthetics with world-class Hollywood talent, Afro Samurai is the definition of a high-style videogame.”

Based on the acclaimed animated series starring and executive-produced by Samuel L. Jackson, Afro Samurai follows a lone warrior who walks the earth in search of his father’s murderer while ascending into the timeless mysticism of the Samurai code. Staying true to the soul of the original series, Afro Samurai not only features familiar faces, but also additional content and background for fans of the series and newcomers alike. From the gritty musical beats of The RZA that punctuate the game’s soundtrack to the iconic voiceover of Samuel L. Jackson, the game is a non-stop, action-packed adventure with style to spare.

Graphically innovative, Afro Samurai’s dynamic cross-hatch visuals give the game a truly unique look and feel as Afro wages a brutal war against anyone standing in his way. Featuring an unrivalled combat system, players can dismember enemies with surgical precision using vigorous slices of the blade. Make a statement by cleaving an opponent in two from skull to sandals or perform cosmetic surgery, samurai style, by lopping off the nose of an adversary. Afro Samurai lets the player feel the swagger and swordsmanship of the ultimate hip-hop warrior.

Afro Samurai, rated “M” for mature, carries a suggested MSRP of $59.99.

Coraline (NDS/PS2/Wii)

Based on LAIKA’s exciting new movie Coraline – the first-ever stop-motion animated feature to be made in 3-D – the Coraline videogame will let players take on the role of the adventurous heroine Coraline and interact with the wondrous characters from the movie while navigating the scheming Other Mother’s web of deceit in a fantastical adventure through two distinct and interactive worlds. The videogame will feature the voice talents of Dakota Fanning, Keith David, and Robert Bailey Jr. All three actors reprise their onscreen voiced roles of Coraline Jones (Fanning), Cat (David) and Wybie Lovat (Bailey Jr.).

“The Coraline videogame wonderfully captures the humor, spookiness and thrilling adventure of the movie,” said Alison Quirion, vice president of marketing, D3Publisher. “Coraline fans of all ages will enjoy the journey through the peculiar Normal World and mesmerizing Other World to relive memorable moments from the movie and experience new ones that go beyond the feature film.”

The only videogame based on the upcoming movie, the Coraline videogame will allow players to explore and interact with such immersive 3-D environments from the movie as the Pink Palace, its nooks and crannies and apartments, and the unpredictable Other World. Players will engage in unique mini-games and adventures with Coraline’s friends, Wybie and Cat, as they collect items that will unlock the mysteries of the Other World.

The Coraline videogame for Wii and the PS2 was developed by Papaya Studios and is rated “E 10+” (Everyone 10 and up – Mild Cartoon Violence, Mild Suggestive Themes) by the ESRB. Coraline for NDS is developed by Art Co. Ltd., and is rated “E” (Everyone – Mild Cartoon Violence, Mild Suggestive Themes) by the ESRB. The Coraline videogame has the suggested retail price of $29.95.
