Rayman M Screens for PS2

by Rainier on Aug. 23, 2001 @ 8:08 p.m. PDT

Rayman M is being developed internally, in Italian and French studios, for the PlayStation®2 computer entertainment system and PC-CD Rom. Rayman M will launch in winter 2001.
Globox gets his day in the sun! In Rayman M, players enter the ring as Rayman, the Teensies, or even Globox, to begin a gladiator-style challenge. Up to 4 players have to choose between 8 characters and enter one of two very different worlds: Race Mode or Battle Mode.

The Race Mode plants players in an every-toon-for-itself foot race through a typically unusual Rayman environment. Speed comes first and foremost, though short cuts, alternate paths, traps and tricks must be utilized to complete the track in the fastest time, while hindering the progress of competitors. Run, slide, climb, jump, helicopter, this is much more than a hundred yard dash.

But save the heavy artillery for Battle Mode. Players shoot lums at each other, in an attempt to make their opponents drop their cache of colored orbs. Once hit, the characters drops of his lums, and a free for all begins as his opponents scramble to collect his scattered lums. Power-ups, traps and special projectiles can be used to capture as many lums as can be carried.

Both modes comprise 12 different tracks or arenas, with 3 of each being playable at the start of the game. After winning the first trio of levels, the next 3 are unlocked and ready for battle. Winning pays off, as prize money is awarded and can be spent to buy new features. Bonus levels, bonus modes, new characters and new skins can be bought by players who emerge victorious! The Rayman universe just got a whole lot bigger!
