'New World Order' Multiplayer Demo Available NOW!

by Rainier on June 1, 2002 @ 1:48 a.m. PDT

The 1-level Beta features the huge map 'Sweden', an atmospheric Nordic village offering a wide variety of locations for every kind of tactics. The map will allow up to 32 players in it at one time and is multiplayer only (on a LAN or via the internet).

Lead programmer Jim Malmros of Termite Games said: "We know the delay since the previously announced Beta-date has kept the fans on their toes. We have been working hard for the last two months to include the revolutionary dynamic player shadowing and polish up several other aspects of the game, including bullet holes, optimal internet coding and hundreds of upgrades. I can now only say their patience is about to be rewarded and we hope to receive tons of useful feedback on the Beta via the P3i forums special section. Enjoy !!"

Jimbo's Update.....

OK guys, this is it !! The moment for setting NEW WORLD ORDER free to conquer the world has come. We have literally worked our butts off, but I am thrilled we can deliver this sweet baby in time. Enjoy the beta and we’ll definitely see you on the servers!! Be prepared for the onslaught…

As you know we actually do care how you guys feel about our work, so make sure we find out by posting at the P3i forums. Your feedback will be used to improve the game over the next months and we can’t do without it !! All feedback should go to the special section forum, so we know where to look for it. Guys, be gentle with us (like we will be when we spot you online…yeah right…).

We will be working to complete the single player portion of the game for the next weeks and use your input to upgrade the multiplayer part (if necessary…lol). Just 3 more months until the complete game will be released, I trust this beta makes the wait worthwhile.

Spread the word. Amen.

UPDATE: #1

The master-server is choking bad right now - causing failure to transmit proper info for joining your games. Since you don't get the proper info displayed when joining you're most likely to join a very slow server - the chance for you hitting one of the fast ones is very slim.

While we service the master, I suggest you try out NWO on a LAN.

It seems there are quite a few people that have problems running the game. Don't dispair - there are solutions to this.

If you're running Windows XP, try downloading service pack 1. If Win2K, the latest service pack.

NWO test will not run on a Voodoo card, or a 3D-card that does not have atleast 32 megs of memory. Also, ensure that you have enough AGP memory allocated to your 3D-card in your Bios. 16-32 in AGP mem should be fine.

If you're having sound problems, try turning down the hardware acceleration for your sound-card. Especially for SB Audigy.

Due to a quite monumental screwup the keys for opening the loadout menu in-game were not in the readme.txt. Press 'N' to bring up the loadout menu, and tilde to back out of menus.

If you're experiencing stuttering when moving, try disabling the hardware shadows. If your hardware or drivers are not quite up to it they will cause this evil.

Run with compressed textures on an nVidia card, looks just as good. If you have problems running on any other card, try to disable compressed textures.

Unfortunately, while the master is not performing up to specs it will be very hard for you guys to get a good internet play experience with NWO. Just hold on and we'll take care of it.

In the network options, select cable unless you're running on a LAN.

UPDATE: #2

..for your great patience with this MP test release guys! With alot of reports coming back of not being able to start a game, or rebind keys - it is clearly evident that we did indeed make some pretty lame mistakes over here at Termite and P3Int.

I'm happy that there are atleast some people who get to play and see the game! :)

The Master-server is causing serious problems for us now. Your server-list only says 1 player in the games while in reality there are more - it fails to track it properly due to the massive (under the circumstances) load on it. Ping times are also lost making it close to impossible for you guys to find a fast server.

We're very sorry for the inconvenience you guys have suffered!

Please try and help each other out, if someone can't get it to run. We will compile a helpme.txt and post it here as soon as we've got some more info back from people.

We will help you out as much as we can.

I hear from the people playing on a LAN that they're having a blast - phew, atleast something.
