Konami is to follow-up its immensely successful sci-fi action PlayStation 2 title Zone of the Enders and the recently released Zone of the Enders: Fist of Mars for Game Boy Advance with a greatly expanded PlayStation 2 epic, entitled The 2nd Runner. Check these 20+ new screens ...

Created by Hideo Kojima and Yoji Shinkawa, the creative talent behind the original game and the multi-million-selling Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty, Zone of the Enders: The 2nd Runner is a stunning 3D action title spanning the entire galaxy.

The year is 2174 and the despotic BAHRAM military organisation is using its new Orbital Frames mech-robot technology to complete the suppression of Mars and the Earth. Commander Nohman, leader of the attacking forces, is now looking to the destruction of the beleaguered UN Space Force charged with defending the two planets. As Mars burns under Nohman’s gaze, however, resistance and revenge are being plotted. Seizing control of the Jehuty Orbital Frame – the most powerful of its kind – the player acts as the last hope for the stricken planets, using its advanced technology to strike deep at the heart of Nohman’s evil army.

Building upon the renowned action sequences of the first game, Zone of the Enders: The 2nd Runner adds a wealth of new additions to this stunning series. Battles now rage between the player and a number of adversaries, replacing the one-on-one scenarios of the first PlayStation 2 game. A wide selection of new moves also give the player greater control over the Jehuty unit, with new throwing moves, shield devices that double as weapons and teleportation systems contributing the mech’s incredible abilities.

Likewise, Zone of the Enders: The 2nd Runner also benefits fully interactive environments. As the towering armies go to war, buildings crumble and forests are laid to waste. The game also has a new cast of characters who are introduced as the game progresses, infusing the epic saga with a twisting and dramatic plot.
