Global Star's 'Take-Out Weight Curling' Goes GOLD

by Thomas on Sept. 18, 2002 @ 2:16 p.m. PDT

Today Global Star Software announced that they have gone gold with their upcoming 3D sports simulation, Take-Out Weight Curling. This title will represent one of the first ever 3D simulations of this traditionally Canadian winter sport, which has exploded in popularity across the globe as of late, especially since being featured prominently at the 2002 Salt Lake City Olympic Winter Games.

A stunning and vibrant 3D environment and realistic physics will provide players with the most realistic curling experience possible without attending a bonspiel themselves. It will feature customizable teams and varying ice conditions, along with 4 difficulty settings, ensuring a unique and exciting experience every time players take to the virtual pebbled ice. Multiplayer features include the ability to challenge curlers around the world over the GameSpy™ network. But most striking is the inclusion of all the sights and sounds of an authentic curling match, from the rumble of the stones as they travel down the ice to the loud screams of the skip as his final stone crosses the hog-line and into play during a critical end. Novices to the game and curling fanatics alike will find what they are looking for in Take-Out Weight Curling.

Befittingly, Take-Out Weight Curling was developed in Canada. What’s more, it was developed in the small town of Viking AB, a town of around 1000 people outside Edmonton, a town that represents the rural roots of the sport where curling rivals hockey as the national pastime. The developer is Nathan Sorenson, a youth of 18 years working out of his family’s home. Global Star Software is proud to be a part of Nathan’s first retail release, and eagerly awaits its launch. Nathan Sorenson will certainly be one to watch in the future of 3D gaming.

In celebration of Nathan’s Achievements and the release of Take-Out Weight Curling, A Release Party will be held at Nathan’s Local Computer Retailer in Viking Alberta on Sept 26th, 2002 from 2-6pm. Members of the press and fans of the sport are invited to attend, to take a sneak peek at the game, interact with Nathan and enjoy some refreshments. The launch party will be held at:

T.A. Micro Computers
5125 50th Street
Viking, Alberta
CANADA
(780) 336-4053

Take Out Weight curling will hit stores across North America this October, with an SRP of 29.99$. Shortly thereafter a French language edition will ship within Canada. It has been rated “E for everyone” by the ESRB.
