Adrenaline levels are set to soar as Acclaim Entertainment announced today that the arcade racing video game Burnout 2: Point of Impact will be available on PlayStation 2 from Friday 11th October 2002. The sequel delivers an incredibly fast and high action driving experience, with vastly improved gameplay, new game options and bigger, better and more insane crash carnage.

"Burnout 2: Point of Impact builds upon the success of its predecessor and pushes the gameplay experience to a whole new level," said James Sheahan, European Brand Manager. "The cars are modified, the tracks more expansive and the potential for danger has never been higher. If you think you know Burnout, think again."

Burnout 2: Point of Impact boasts bigger tracks, fully decaled motors and all-new thrilling crashes. Reckless driving is rewarded with an improved Burnout meter: take to the air, slide through corners or swerve to avoid a near head-on collision to fill the meter before unleashing an adrenalin fuelled power surge. A new points system allows you to unlock challenges and modes throughout the game. One of the new modes is 'pursuit' that allows you to drive a police car in hot pursuit to try and ram the opponent off the road. Burnout 2: Point of Impact gives 'boy racer' kicks to gamers – it's only the most assertive and aggressive drivers who'll get past the post in pole position.

Several American films inspired Burnout 2: Point of Impact, including "The Fast And The Furious," "Bad Boys" and "Speed." In addition, Burnout 2: Point of Impact will offer a broad array of features such as:

Six exciting new locations, including Los Angeles, The Rocky Mountains, New Mexico and a busy international airport;

Thirty-two new stages to drive;

Fourteen all-new vehicles to race;

Seven secret vehicles to unlock including police cars, 1950's hotrods and stock cars;

Realistic weather effects, such as snow, rain and fog;

Offensive Driving 101, where you can "Learn to Burn" from the Burnout Driving School;

All-new Pursuit races, allowing players to race a police car and ram opponents off the road

Vehicles can get air and earn boosts by jumping;

Incredible all-new car crash and vehicle deformation system - tear up the traffic;

New Custom Series Mode - race modified vehicles complete with body kits and decals;

Awesome in-game soundtrack to help keep players rocking and racing;

Unique new next-generation graphical effects - unrivalled on PS2;

Vibration enabled controller compatibility, letting players feel every turn and crunch of the car.

Burnout 2: Point of Impact will be available on PlayStation 2 from 11th October 2002 from all major games retailers. For more information on Burnout 2: Point of Impact, please visit www.acclaim.com.
