Encore today announced that it has begun shipping Redline: Xtreme Air Racing 2, an ultra-realistic flight simulation racing game. Retailing for approximately $30, the PC game will be on store shelves this week.

"Redline: Xtreme Air Racing 2 is like NASCAR in the sky - only players are going three times as fast," said Pat Hunt, CEO at Victory Simulations. "It takes the world's fastest motorsport - air racing - and makes it even more deadly by adding the element of combat during a race. Flying at 500 miles per hour, 50 feet off the ground, with 15 other airplanes around you gives new meaning to the term 'adrenaline rush.'"

Added Skip Holm, the "Jeff Gordon" of air racing and the winner of this year's Gold Unlimited Race in Reno (at 507 miles per hour average lap speed) and the Thomson Trophy (at 512.164 mph), "If you've ever wanted to experience the thrill of air racing, this game is for you - it doesn't get any better than this."

Game Puts Players in the Cockpit, Flying on Dizzying Mid-air Battles

Redline: Xtreme Air Racing 2 is the sequel to Xtreme Air Racing, which was widely acclaimed for its ground-breaking graphics, exciting gameplay and realistic flight simulations. This new version offers numerous new features to make this sport even more dynamic, including the addition of air combat, new tracks, and the ability to customize planes. After just a few seconds in the cockpit, players will find out what makes real pilots tempt fate, pulling 6 G's as they twist around courses in exotic locations around the world.

To win the race, players can take advantage of the game's key features:

  • Over 70 highly detailed aircraft, each with unique flying characteristics and 3-D cockpits featuring fully functional gauges
  • Four racing classes: small, maneuverable sport biplanes; sport-car-like Formula Ones; the suicidal T-6's; and the "heavy metal" of air racers: the Unlimiteds
  • Fifty different tracks in exotic locations around the world, including islands in Thailand, the coast of England, fjords in Iceland, the Swiss Alps, the jungles of South America and the desert course at the world-renowned Reno Air Show
  • Hints from aviation legend R.A. "Bob" Hoover, coaching players around the course and announcing by Gordon Bowman Jones, the "voice of Reno"
  • Four modes of play: race, combat, online and stunt mode
  • Spectacular crashes and special effects
  • Some of the most famous planes from the world of air racing: Dago Red, Miss America, Strega, Voodoo, Critical Mass, and Rare Bear
  • Four difficulty levels, offering challenging game play for everyone from beginners to experts
  • Advanced AI that adjusts to the skill of the player, making every race competitive
  • Multi player for up to 8 players
