'MotoGP 2' Scores Two Bafta Awards

by Thomas on Nov. 12, 2003 @ 8:11 a.m. PST

"To have MotoGP:URT 2 nominated for two BAFTA Interactive Awards is a fantastic honour and a huge pat on the back for our development team," said Tony Beckwith, Studio Head of Climax in Brighton. "We always knew we had a winner on our hands, but the response to the game from such illustrious magazines and institutions as Edge and BAFTA has really taken us aback. It's a credit to the talent we have here that MotoGP:URT 2 has achieved such recognition and widespread critical acclaim."

Published by THQ on PC and Xbox, MotoGP:URT 2 was released in May and shot straight to the top of the charts. Praised by gamers and critics alike for its handling, physics, controls and graphics, the game became an instant hit and has since gone on to become one of the most successful racers of all-time. With fully licensed professional riders, bikes and tracks, six single-player game modes, realistic bike physics and sensational graphics running at up to 60 frames per second, MotoGP:URT 2 has proven itself to be one of the most innovative and influential racing games of the year.

Other awards already picked up by MotoGP 1 & 2 include:

OXM – Best Use of an Xbox Controller
Edge Awards 2003 – Technical Achievement of the Year
Develop Industry Excellence Awards – Technology Award
Microsoft Advance Technology Group – 2003 Xbox Award for Excellence in Live
Implementation
