'NHL' (PC/CONSOLE) Senior League Hockey Update

by Thomas on Nov. 19, 2003 @ 9:41 a.m. PST

Specialist online games developer CAT Games has finalised an agreement with the NHL to launch an updated version of the online Ice Hockey management game called SeniorLeagueHockey. SeniorLeagueHockey.com is now the Premier Online Management Game of the NHL and is navigable directly from www.NHL.com. SeniorLeagueHockey.com has already attracted over 100,000 active managers, and the number is growing rapidly.

In addition to the agreement with the NHL, SeniorLeagueHockey.com has concluded a substantial, exclusive sponsorship agreement with The NHL's Official Wireless Sponsor, cellular phone giant Nextel.

Jeffrey Lee, Marketing Director of CAT Games says;

"As a young, innovative British company, it is a great privilege to partner with an organisation like the NHL, which is undoubtedly one of the major leagues in world sport. At the request of the NHL, we tried to give the game some of the same humour and playability as SundayLeague but tailored for the hockey market. It seems that with the number of managers increasing so rapidly, that we have succeeded in doing that."

Rich Libero, VP of Editorial and Production for NHL.com adds;

"The response to Senior League has been nothing short of phenomenal. We always new our fans loved fantasy games about the NHL on the ice but we were a bit unprepared for the response when we invited them to participate as member of the fantasy team themselves."

"CAT Games have produced a fantastic game which is going down really well with NHL fans. We know that many, many fans are coming back day-after-day in order to keep their team at the top of their game, which has given us the added benefit of providing an even greater sense of community amongst our users."

Since its link up with SeniorLeagueHockey.com, NHL.com's off-season traffic has risen in excess of 40%. Like Sunday League, the basic version of the game is free to play, but upgrades and new players cost, thereby delivering increasing revenues to both partners
