EA Signs 'MVP Baseball 2004' (NGC/PS2/Xbox/PC) Cover Athlete

by Rainier on Nov. 20, 2003 @ 12:34 p.m. PST

“Gracing the cover of MVP Baseball 2004 and becoming a part of the EA SPORTS family is a big moment in my career,” said Albert Pujols, who last month was voted player of the year by his peers in balloting conducted by the Major League Baseball Players' Association. “It’s a thrill for me to be a part of a game that offers fans the authentic look and feel of stepping up to the plate and standing in the batter’s box. There is science to hitting that is hard to recreate, but that’s exactly what EA SPORTS has done in MVP Baseball 2004.”

In just three seasons in Major League Baseball, Pujols has already made an enormous impact on the game. Recognized as one of the pure hitters in baseball, Pujols burst onto the scene in 2001 when he was named National League Rookie of the Year after batting .329 with 37 home runs and 130 RBI. Last year, Pujols finished second in balloting for the National League MVP award. In 2003 he was among the NL leaders in nearly all major offensive categories, including batting average (.359, 1st), home runs (43, 4th), RBI (124, 5th), and runs (137, 1st).

MVP Baseball 2004, a deep and authentic simulation of America’s pastime, features an all-new hitting model that allows for complete user control over all swing types as well as signature cuts from the game’s best sluggers and purest hitters. A deep new EA SPORTS Dynasty Mode™, coupled with all-new online play through EA SPORTS Nation on the PlayStation®2 console, provides for the ultimate interactive experience.

Developed by EA Canada, MVP Baseball 2004 is scheduled for release next spring on the PlayStation®2 computer entertainment system, the Xbox™ video game system from Microsoft, and, for the first-time ever, the Nintendo GameCube™, and the PC.
