'Platoon' - Update Patch Available NOW

by Rainier on Feb. 20, 2003 @ 5:39 p.m. PST

Platoon covers the period from the early days of the conflict (late 1965) to the height of battle in 1968, and recreates some of the most trafic moments of the Vietnam War: Operation "Shiny Bayonet", the Pleiku Campaign, Operation "Pershing"... Monte Cristo/Strategy First have released new patches for their 3D tactical strategy game Platoon. This upgrade brings your Platoon retail copy to v1.14, consolidates all previous patches and the "Easy" mod into one new version "as well as correcting any problems players may have had progressing from mission to mission after installing the Easy Mod." As usual, one patch upgrades the US and various international editions, while the other applies to a slew of other international editions.

Corrections:

  • Resolution bug: under win98 with a gf3 FX If you choose a higher resolution than 1024 x 768, the mouse pointer appears in double.
  • The consequence is that neither campaign nor scenario can be started. This problem doesn't concern lower resolution.
  • With the mouse pointer being duplicated, you can no longer use the "Start" nor the "Back" button.
  • Only the tutorial can be played normally - Corrected
  • Multiplayer desync: after 3 games desynchronisation occured. Corrected
  • Mount: sometimes when you were trying to mount into an apc, both the apc and the mounted unit were getting stuck and unsuable (testable on mission 8). Corrected

Platoon Easy Mod:

Monte Cristo and Digital Reality are pleased to bring you a mod for Platoon. This mod features a number of changes in the gameplay that allow you to experience the game in a totally new way, and respond to a number of requests that the community has expressed. This modification makes the game easier in two ways: It allows you to save the game within missions, and allows the soldiers to respond to enemy fire by firing and taking cover without requiring you to give an explicit order

Platoon Master Update:

As well as including all previous updates, this patch will fix any problems caused from installing the Easy Mod. The main issue fixed is not being able to pass from one mission to another (especially level 8) after having saved the game at certain points.
