'Söldner: Secret Wars' Wants Your Skin

by Rainier on Feb. 27, 2003 @ 9:12 a.m. PST

JoWooD announces that the official website to their forthcoming online tactical military shooter, Söldner: Secret Wars, will be updated today with information on the unique Unit Customisation System feature. Söldner: Secret Wars will revolutionise the traditional 'skins' approach to character and unit customisation featured in other similar games, an approach which often makes customisation a hugely time consuming and technically challenging process.

The revolutionary UCS allows Söldner: Secret Wars' players, even those with no technical knowledge, to create their own professional looking in-game character within a matter of seconds.

Players will be able to choose from a wide range of faces, each one created to give a unique look to the character. In addition, Söldner: Secret Wars will allow players to pick from a vast array of headgear, jackets, trousers and boots, along with a wide selection of tattoos, sunglasses and backpacks. Once players have outfitted their soldier, they will then be able to choose a camouflage style with which to colour their equipment.

With the phenomenal array of fully-customisable items available to players, Söldner: Secret Wars will offer a staggering 60,000 unique kit combinations to choose from.

The UCS also incorporates a clan tagging system that should avoid the fake clan tagging that has hampered the online experience in other popular online games. In order to ensure players are legitimate clan members, Söldner: Secret Wars only allows clan tags to be allocated by the organising members of that clan. In addition clans are registered on a centralised Söldner: Secret Wars server, and thus each clan's name will be kept unique. The clan incorporation in the UCS also extends to clan logos, which along with the players camouflage choice, will be applied to any vehicles (including jets and helicopters) they choose to use, as well as appearing on their own uniform.

Söldner: Secret Wars will be released in the UK in 2003 for PC CD-ROM.
