Vivendi Games Goes Hunting

by Rainier on March 13, 2003 @ 10:04 a.m. PST

Vivendi Universal Games (VU Games) today announced that it has obtained the exclusive publishing rights for the world-renowned "Hunter: The Reckoning" franchise. Under terms of the agreement, VU Games has assumed worldwide publishing and distribution responsibilities to future game releases based on the multi-year content license from White Wolf Publishing Inc. The publishing rights were purchased from Interplay Entertainment Corp.

VU Games will publish two titles in development with High Voltage Software, "Hunter: The Reckoning Wayward" and "Hunter: The Reckoning Redeemer." Additionally, the White Wolf license grants VU Games the right to extend its licensing agreement to publish games based on the franchise through 2008.

"'Hunter: The Reckoning' is a highly successful franchise in the games business and a strong addition to our publishing portfolio," said Luc Vanhal, President and COO, North America for VU Games. "We were extremely pleased with the sales generated for 'Hunter: The Reckoning' games released last year and anticipate similar success for future franchise-based titles."

The original multi-platform release of "Hunter: The Reckoning" was distributed by VU Games in 2002. The critically acclaimed title received an "Editor's Choice Award" from IGN.com and garnered a "Seal of Excellence" award from Adrenaline Vault.
