by Rainier on March 3, 2003 @ 9:30 a.m. PST

On the heels of the successful “Law & Order: Dead on the Money” CD-ROM game launch in North America, games developer and publisher Legacy Interactive announced today that the company has signed a domestic distribution deal with Vivendi Universal Games for the game’s sequel, scheduled to ship in 2003. In addition, an international distribution deal has also been signed with DreamCatcher Interactive for the rights to both the first "Law & Order" game and "Law & Order II: Double or Nothing".

“We are very pleased with the critical acclaim and commercial success we have received from our first Law & Order game, and look forward to taking the franchise to the next level in a sequel,” said Ariella Lehrer, Chief Executive Officer of Legacy Interactive. “The first game has been well received by consumers at retail, proving there is a built-in audience who desires an interactive experience with their favorite television drama.”

“Legacy Interactive has captured the drama of the Law & Order television franchise and translated it into a successful and compelling computer game,” said Philip W. O’Neil, Senior Vice President of Sales & Marketing, Vivendi Universal Games. “The game performed well in a very tough retail environment this past holiday season, and we believe the sequel will be an even greater commercial success.”

International games distributor, DreamCatcher Interactive will own all international rights to the “Law & Order: Dead on the Money” CD-ROM game, and will begin distribution abroad beginning this Spring under Its Adventure Company Label. Legacy Interactive will be localizing the game in languages including French, German, Spanish and Italian.

“The Law & Order television franchise is one of the most popular American entertainment properties throughout the world,” said Richard Wah Kan, CEO and president of DreamCatcher Interactive. “As adventure games have a global appeal, we believe the Law & Order game will receive a very positive reception.”

Written by a freelance writer from the series, “Law & Order: Dead on the Money” features the voices of “Law & Order” stars Jerry Orbach, S. Epatha Merkerson and Elisabeth Röhm. The compelling CD-ROM game is set in the realistic world of criminal investigation and legal prosecution, where crime and justice are viewed from a dual perspective.
