Codemasters' Acquisition Hunt Continues At E3

by Thomas on April 15, 2003 @ 8:33 a.m. PDT

The exceptional level of interest from games developers experienced by Codemasters' acquisitions team at the recent Game Developers Conference [GDC] will see the company continuing to focus its business development on acquiring further titles at this year's E3 expo (May 14-16, Los Angeles). Codemasters’ product acquisition team will be at E3 (Codemasters booth 746, South Hall, Los Angeles Convention Centre) to meet game developers and discuss global publishing opportunities. Codemasters is ready to sign titles for PC, PC online, PlayStation 2, Xbox and GameCube formats.

Says Gary Rowe, Head of Business Development and Manager of Codemasters’ acquisitions programme:

"GDC was an excellent result for Codemasters with over 80 approaches from the international development community and we're in serious negotiations with a number of key developers.

"However, Codemasters' acquisitions programme remains open and we're eager to use E3 as a platform to meet more teams and view more products that fit Codemasters' policy of publishing games of excellence."

Codemasters has provided publishing successes for many external developers' products and continues to sign major titles in the marketplace; including the recently announced "Pop Idol" and "American Idol" projects from Hothouse Creations and the hotly-tipped RTS title "Battlefield Command" from 1C.

Codemasters offers a variety of financing models for acquired products from external developers, including outright purchase of a title, licence-based financing, completion bonds and further options.

Playing an important part of Codemasters' publishing programme, acquired and external titles can also benefit from a co-operative development process. Codemasters maintains an internal studio dedicated to working alongside external teams providing game design input and development support as necessary.

Codemasters’ acquisitions team will be at Codemasters' E3 booth (#746, South Hall), to meet with developers and discuss projects and publishing opportunities for ongoing and planned products.
