CDV Announces Worlwide Release Of 'No Man’s Land'

by Thomas on June 10, 2003 @ 3:10 a.m. PDT

CDV Entertainment announces the simultaneous worldwide release of their latest 3D-RTS-Game No Man's Land – Fight For Your Rights which will hit shelves August 2003. In No Man's Land, the player leads the colonisation of the American continent between 1600 and 1900. In three campaigns, divided into 30 diversified missions, the player sees the historical development of this era from the viewpoint of six different ethnic groups: Englishmen, settlers, American patriots, Spaniards, Forest- and Prairie Indians.

Related Designs is the developer of CDV's latest RTS gem. Unlike other RTS games No Man's Land aims to combine fun and entertainment combined with outstanding graphics and unique features such as a railroad competition.

The campaigns follow a coherent storyline which is embedded in the historic surroundings without having the exact rendering of particular events dictating the course of the game. Rather, the missions play in the background of such events in order to provide the player with reference points and to intensify the atmosphere. The developer took much of their inspiration from films such as Dances with Wolves, The Last of the Mohicans and The Patriot.

The units are able to swim, dive and act in day and night missions, with morale and experience being highly valued. Features closely related to the game theme, such as horse saddling or railway construction, offer additional possibilities beyond their atmospheric value.

"No Man's Land has already been compared to Age of Mythology in different countries and I am sure that UK RTS gamers will share this opinion," says Terry Malham, CDV's UK president. "The game is fully up to today's 3D RTS standards, focuses on fun and easy playability and still incorporates features that you will not find in other RTS games. A winner."

Key features for No Man's Land include:

New 3D graphics engine with freely zoomable and rotatable terrain

3 campaigns, each with its own storyline

30 missions and additional training missions

3 epochs: from colonization to settlement of the West

6 ethnic groups (Englishmen, settlers, American patriots, Spaniards, Forest- and Prairie Indians)

Each ethnic group has its individual strengths and weaknesses

Historically researched units and buildings

Technical progress: from rafts to railway

LAN and Internet multiplayer (from Deathmatch to Railroad competition)
