Rival-Species reaches the next stage of development with the release of R-S, the latest complete version of Rival-Species. Rival-Species is a HalfLife mod based around the popular Warhammer 40K universe, and pits you against three possible races, the righteous fury of Imperial Space Marines, the unquestionable evil of their Chaos Marine counterparts, and the technological superiority of the alien Eldar. Rival-Species is a Warhammer 40,000 based Half-Life modification, aiming to recreate the dark future of the 41st millenium as fully as possible. Along with including a huge number of weapons, three races are currently available to play; the advanced Eldar race, the unshakeable Space Marines and the treacherous Chaos Marines. A huge number of classes can be enabled by the team leader, ranging from heavy terminator troops to Jump Pack equipped assault troops and everything in-between. The mod also includes pilotable war-machines, such as dreadnoughts (giant robots), but these are planned to be tweaked much more in future versions.

  • Flamer particle system calls optimized and some HUD errors fixed

  • World eaters are now a chaos space marines skin.

  • Added a new class called devastator (heavy weapons only)
  • Gave heavy weapons a high spread when moving
  • Gave heavy weapons a bit less deploy-time
  • Increased grenade and rocket damage and area a bit
  • Flattened grenades throwcurve
  • Decreased walking speed of terminators, reapers and heavy weapons when firing
  • Made heavy weapons cost less points
  • Spectators become ghosts by ghost command when switching back they respawn
  • Increased close combat range by 1.5
  • Added pistol to all melee weapons (melee/pistol combo)
  • Added more spread to the pistol
  • Reduced speed when walking backwards
  • Increased bolter firing rate
  • Players lose victory points for team killing
  • Added dread crosshair / aiming
  • Added enlist command for bugfixing of no respawns error
  • Artefact bearer gets icon on HUD
  • Class info at scoreboard
  • Restrict to 5 players per class
  • 3 classes allowable
  • Standard class is now allowed ALWAYS
  • Added listenserver.cfg needed same as server.cfg
  • Automatically closed menus, that are overlayed
  • Made clock count to 60
  • Stopped abort reload time through reload IW Rocket Launcher
  • Set sv_maxspeed to 666
  • Fixed invisible driver model after respawn
  • Fixed enemy classes allowable
  • Reset energy at respawn
