Vivendi Universal announced today that Spyro A Hero's Tail, the next installment in the popular video game franchise, has gone gold. The fiery purple dragon will land on retail shelves nationwide this November in his biggest adventure yet for the PlayStation2, Xbox and GameCube.

Developed by UK-based Eurocom Entertainment Software, the new 3D action platformer will feature five fully-playable characters and brand-new Spyro breath attacks, power-ups and moves.

"Without a doubt, A Hero's Tail is the biggest, boldest and greatest Spyro adventure to date," said Michael Pole, EVP of Worldwide Studios, VU Games. "Everyone's favorite purple dragon has allied himself with old friends and recruited new ones in a humorous adventure spanning lush dragon realms that gamers of all ages will certainly enjoy. Spyro is definitely back - and he's back in a big way!"

Spyro must save the Dragon Realms from the Evil Red Dragon who has planted light-sapping Dark Gems all over the Dragon Realms in an attempt to capture and control the world. With the help of his allies, Spyro must seek out and destroy all of the Dark Gems to return the lands back to normal and to save the Dragon Realms from the evil dragon's tyrannical control. Full of brand new dragon powers and abilities, gadgets, lush environments and playable characters, Spyro A Hero's Tail is the greatest Spyro adventure ever!

Spyro A Hero's Tail will be available in November 2004 on PlayStation 2, Xbox and Nintendo GameCube for a suggested retail price of $49.99, with an ESRB "E" rating. For more information, customers can visit
