About Judy

As WP's managing editor, I edit review and preview articles, attempt to keep up with the frantic pace of Rainier's news posts, and keep our reviewers on deadline, which is akin to herding cats. When I have a moment to myself and don't have my nose in a book, I like to play action/RPG, adventure and platforming games.

'WRC 4' (PS2) - Screens

by Judy on Oct. 5, 2004 @ 10:02 a.m. PDT

Featuring all of cars and drivers of the 2004 season, WRC 4 includes two brand new rally cars seen in a computer game for the first time - the Peugeot 307 WRC and Mitsubishi Lancer WRC 04. Players can also choose to race in any of this year's WRC rally locations, including the new rallies in Mexico and Japan.

WRC 4 now incorporates Network Play, encouraging players to take their rallying skills to a new level in an online time trial, which allows them to race any stage at any time, against the clock or against a number of rally fans. The top 100 drivers on any stage can upload their times to the web and let the world know how fast they are! A Public Lobby area brings the WRC community together to arrange games and chat with friends and competitors.

  • In the offline mode, competitors can experience the key moments in the career of a professional rally driver progressing through 11 levels to reach the top. Honing their driving skills and learning how to set up and repair their car under pressure of tight deadlines, players must learn through experience in order to earn a drive at the highest level.
  • For players who want to push their skills to the limit, WRC 4's Test Tracks allow them to test their high performance vehicles in a true-to-life environment. Based on real-life Subaru Centres, the three brand new multi-disciplined test tracks are set in Finland, the United Kingdom and Spain. In addition to being able to grapple with the cones section, the giant slalom and the skid pan area, players can compete in a range of driver tests and challenges as well as roaming freely, to learn the limitations of their cars.
  • New technological enhancements make WRC4 more authentic than ever with more detailed and realistic settings as well as photo realistic textures. The realism is highlighted as vehicles move through the landscapes, sweeping past fading vistas and kicking up particles of dust as they swirl around the track adding to the dynamism and excitement of the WRC experience.
