About Judy

As WP's managing editor, I edit review and preview articles, attempt to keep up with the frantic pace of Rainier's news posts, and keep our reviewers on deadline, which is akin to herding cats. When I have a moment to myself and don't have my nose in a book, I like to play action/RPG, adventure and platforming games.

'Election 2004: The Game' Goes Online

by Judy on Oct. 7, 2004 @ 7:32 a.m. PDT

'Election 2004: The Game' has debuted. Launched to coincide with the 2004 U.S. presidential debates, the online game satirizes the political posturing and punditry of the presidential candidates, incumbent Republican George W. Bush and Democrat John Kerry.

Designed to bring levity to an intense line-up of debates preceding the U.S. presidential election, the game is free to play. Players participate by selecting debate "comebacks" for the candidate they choose to role play in the game. Players are instructed, "A sharpened tongue will win the game. ... A fitting response will earn more votes and maybe even the Presidency."

"I hope that people will come to the site to enjoy the humor then tell their friends about it," game creator David Taverner stated. "The site is first and foremostly for people to have fun, although players might just learn a few tidbits about U.S. current events while they're at it."

Taverner added further, "Players should keep an eye out for cameos from an illustrious cast of characters, including California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, conservative author and columnist Ann Coulter, Kerry's running mate John Edwards, and Vice President Dick Cheney."
