Battlefield: Pirates is a mod for EA's Battlefield 1942 (updated for the coming BF1942 v1.6 patch). This was originally just going to be a quick fix for the scoreboard bug in EA's 1.6 patch, but since you have all been waiting so long for Beta 3, we decided to take a little extra time and add all of the improvements we've made to existing units and maps. What this release is:

This was originally just going to be a quick fix for the scoreboard bug in EA's 1.6 patch, but since you have all been waiting so long for Beta 3, we decided to take a little extra time and add all of the improvements we've made to existing units and maps.

Here is a partial list of changes. We have worked on just about everything, so it would be too much to list every detail:

Rebalanced/reworked/tweeked/retested units. A lot of work went into this to insure that your gaming experience is better than ever.

A few new static objects. Getting a little bored with the scenery? Well, we have shiploads of new objects coming for Beta 3. Just to get you excited, we have included a few of them now, but we're not going to tell you all the surprises. We'll let you find them for yourself:)

Multiple galleons on some maps. maps can now have up to 3 galleons per side! Look for more maps using this feature when Beta 3 comes out.

"landing craft" barrels on the backs of the galleons. Just run up next to them and enter. Note that the best "entering" position is on the corners of the stern. If you stand in the center of the railing and "enter", you will actually enter the galleon stern gun. Also note: there is a net bug that causes the barrels to appear to seperate from the galleons when they move and snap back when the galleon stops. This only happens in internet games and they are actually still "there", they just aren't updating in the renderer correctly. If you go to where they are supposed to be and "enter", you can usually still get in them. We are still working to fix this.

"Blocking" objects on the galleons to keep you from getting stuck behind stairs. Since the decks are so slippery when in motion, I've added some objects that will "funnel" you towards the stairs. Just run at them and you will slide towards the stairs. This was a quick fix and we will be adding more objects and such to the galleons in Beta 3.

Assorted new effects on the ships and a few new textures. Just for fun...

Redesigned/reworked maps. Scurvy cove has been completely redesigned from the ground up to put the game play back to what it was originally supposed to be. Komodo Island is also almost completely new except for the castle. Tides of Blood has also had a major reworking and will probably undergo even more changes for Beta 3. We've listened to the comments you've made and have tried to make all the maps more balanced, interesting, and fun. We hope you like the changes.

and lastly...

BFP_High_Tide. A new map just to keep things interesting. This is a "sloop fighting" map. This is one of the testers' favorites because of how balanced it is and how intense the combat gets. For those of you in clans, this is also a good map for ladder matches.

If you are new to the game or want to be sure you haven't missed anything, check out our new Player's Guide page for instructions and a small FAQ. This will be expanded upon and reworked as we get closer to Beta 3.
