'Pool Paradise' (NGC/PS2/PC) Goes Gold

by Rainier on March 15, 2004 @ 10:09 a.m. PST

Archer Maclean's Pool Paradise – for which snooker favourite Jimmy White has provided exclusive consultancy – is the pinnacle of pool games, offering limitless playing time across a host of pool disciplines. Arriving on the idyllic desert island, cue in hand but penniless, players must work their way up through the ranks in order to become the island's top dog. With cash earnt from winning games and placing side bets, players can unlock hidden areas and other extras. Players can take part in a wide selection of additional mini games and pub sports, purchasing better equipment with which to challenge the tougher opponents.

"Pool Paradise redefines the pool game," says Simon Insull, Sales Manager, Ignition Entertainment. "We're really keen to ensure that as many people as possible are able to experience the ultimate in pool simulations, so we're delighted we've been able to re-jig the maths in order to launch Pool Paradise at a really competitive price. The game genuinely is the most authentic cueball simulation ever to have been developed. And at a recommended retail price of £19.99 it represents amazing value for money. To put this in perspective, some of London's pool halls charge nine pounds an hour. A pint these days is around £2.50, sometimes more. At these rates, Pool Paradise offers unlimited playability for the cost of a couple of hours' pool or eight drinks."

Pool Paradise features:

  • 11 variations of pool (including UK and US 8ball and 9ball, Killer and new unique games such as Switchball and Rotation, plus many more)
  • Five modes of play: Practice, Championship, Tournament, Trickshots and various subgames
  • 10 different tournament ladders
  • 10 different table sizes and shapes, both indoors and out on the beach
  • Eight camera modes from close-in chase-cam, to static overhead.
  • Unique analogue control method offers total control over shots
  • Unlockable mini games, including Beach Darts, Dropzone Arcade Game, Skeepool Ramp and Coconut Shy, plus more
  • Beach shop offering additional pool gadgets and equipment
  • Loan Shark to lend you more cash - or bite your head off!
  • Fully animated island. Watch the waves roll in and the palm trees swaying in the breeze.
  • Day and night lighting cycle. As the sun sets, the moon rises.
  • Consultancy provided by Jimmy White – making Pool Paradise the most authentic game of its type

Archer Maclean's Pool Paradise will be available on April 2nd 2004 for PlayStation 2, Game Cube and PC, rrp £19.99.
