KumaWar Launches 'Iran Hostage Rescue Mission Part 2'

by Rainier on May 15, 2004 @ 11:18 p.m. PDT

KumaWar, the online game service that allows players to experience real world events through advanced gaming technology, has launched its newest mission, Iran Hostage Rescue Part 2. Based on the April 24, 1980 failed attempt to rescue 53 American hostages held in Tehran, the Iran Hostage Rescue Mission Part 2 offers players the opportunity to execute the Pentagon's actual plan to storm the American embassy and to bring the hostages home.

Based on interviews with former CIA officers and expert military analysis, KumaWar re-creates the Iran hostage rescue mission as it was intended to occur. The plan was astounding: After flying from Desert One to the edge of Tehran, dozens of US commandos would enter the embassy, neutralize the radical Iranian students, and free the hostages. While AC-130 Spectre Gunships circled overhead, navy helicopters were to land in the middle of the Iranian capital to evacuate the team and the 53 hostages. Any team members left in Teheran were to fight their way out of the area, steal cars if possible, and make their way to the Soviet border.

"KumaWar players will feel as if they were actual participants in this critical event"; said Keith Halper, CEO of Kuma Reality Games. "Using game tools, we make complex and dangerous missions like the Iran Hostage Rescue mission understandable to American citizens. I believe our players gain a keener understanding and appreciation for the challenges and dangers our military men and women face every day."

In the coming weeks, subscribers can expect to receive more missions that explore the intense battles in Fallujah, with the Sadr militia, and elsewhere in Iraq, as well as simulating breaking news as it occurs around the world.

KumaWar is available for download and free trial at www.kumawar.com and can be purchased for a $9.99 per month subscription fee. As a salute to the men and women in uniform who have served their countries, Kuma Reality Games will donate $1 of all paid subscriptions to The Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund, which was created to assist the families of the nation's fallen heroes killed in duty.

Kuma Reality Games is offering a free subscription to KumaWar to everyone with a .mil email address until June 30th.
