THQ today announced that Hot Wheels Stunt Track Challenge videogames are in development for the PS2, Xbox, Game Boy Advance and PC. The PS2 version will feature an online component, allowing six players to race head-to-head. All skus, which will feature extreme game show-style stunt challenges and sizzling fast racing action, are scheduled to release this fall.

"We're excited about the 'Fear Factor'-style gameplay of Hot WheelsTM Stunt Track ChallengeTM," said Jack Sorenson, executive vice president, worldwide studios, THQ. "This new, futuristic, reality show environment really spices up the traditional Hot WheelsTM racing action. While still packed with competitive speed challenges, Hot WheelsTM Stunt Track ChallengeTM will also require players to complete unique and shocking stunts to impress the audience and stay on the show."

"We're thrilled to work with THQ to bring a new interactive Hot WheelsTM experience to an expanding mass-market gaming audience," said Amy Boylan, senior vice president, Mattel. "Hot WheelsTM Stunt Track ChallengeTM combines a classic toy brand with a hot, fresh gameplay and television trend – and throws in a cutting edge online element for a game that's sure to please."

In the Hot WheelsTM Stunt Track ChallengeTM videogames, players are thrust into competition on a hot new extreme game show – on which they must complete perilous stunts and win intense races. The goal is to beat opponents and impress the audience with fearless maneuvers, in order to advance into other 'episodes' and win better cars. At the end of the season, the driver with the most courage and best stunt skills will cruise away in a gold-plated car as the Hot WheelsTM Champion. Players will choose from 30 authentic Hot Wheels® cars to compete in 24 stunt challenges on 12 different tracks set in environments such as Buccaneer Bay, Jurassic Jam, Zero Gravity Zone, Tiki Island, Spider Alley and Lava Land. Before each race, players can enter the garage to customize their cars with unique colors, wheels and decals. The Xbox version will allow four-player races, while the PlayStation 2 game allows for two-player racing action; or six-player action with a PlayStation 2 online account or LAN.
