THQ today announced the release of Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War. The highly anticipated real-time strategy game for PC is based on the world of Warhammer 40,000 - the dark, futuristic, fantasy universe from Games Workshop traveled by millions worldwide.

"We are extremely proud that Dawn of War marks THQ's inaugural release with the talented team at Relic," said Jack Sorensen, executive vice president of worldwide studios, THQ. "With its epic, visually stunning combat scenarios, Dawn of War delivers a whole new level of action to the RTS genre."

In Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War, players are provided the opportunity to command four highly unique races, including Humanity's finest - the Space Marines, the villainous traitors of man - the Chaos Space Marines, the savage beasts - the Orks, or the psychic and technologically advanced alien warriors - the Eldar. With each race it is vital to master their distinct abilities, weapons, and tech tree to eradicate the enemy and rule the known universe.

Developed by THQ's recently acquired Relic Entertainment Inc., Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War has shipped to retailers worldwide for a suggested retail price of $49.99.
