About Judy

As WP's managing editor, I edit review and preview articles, attempt to keep up with the frantic pace of Rainier's news posts, and keep our reviewers on deadline, which is akin to herding cats. When I have a moment to myself and don't have my nose in a book, I like to play action/RPG, adventure and platforming games.

'Pariah' (Xbox/PC) Gets Official Release Date

by Judy on Jan. 25, 2005 @ 10:32 a.m. PST

Pariah focuses on a robust immersive storyline that weaves survival elements into the traditional run-and-gun style of first-person action games.

Jack Mason is a burned-out doctor with no will to live, that is, until he nearly dies in a transport crash. Now he and his infected patient are stranded deep within the most vicious prison sectors of a wasteland called 'Earth'. In sixteen hours an orbital platform will initiate a total biohazard containment procedure: 50-megaton yield, detonated above sea level, to cleanse the contamination.

"Pariah is looking impressive," said Jon Walsh, CEO of Groove Games. "The team at Digital Extremes has really pulled out all the stops to make a mark in the FPS genre with Pariah. And, on May 3rd gamers everywhere will get to experience the polish and hard work that has gone into making Pariah the
next big, must-have FPS."

Announced last March, Pariah has steadily gained awareness as a game to watch after it was awarded Biggest Surprise at the industry's Electronic Entertainment Expo by last spring. It has been revealed that the game intertwines a compelling story, evolutionary gameplay and stunning visuals to create an impressively immersive single-player campaign as well as a fully loaded multi-player component.

Groove Games is publishing the game in North America while Hip Interactive Europe will distribute and publish the title in Europe, Australia and New Zealand. For more information on the game visit the official Pariah website.
