THQ today announced that MX vs. ATV Unleashed has shipped for the PlayStation 2 and will be released for the Xbox on March 24. Fans can taste the dirt and smell the fumes at a suggested retail price of $39.95.

The highly anticipated game from renowned racing developer Rainbow Studios combines their expertise of ATV and motocross racing, redefining the off-road genre through a collection of new vehicles, event types and online racing options. The release of MX vs. ATV Unleashed builds on the success of critically acclaimed MX Unleashed, which has shipped more than one million units since its 2004 launch.

"Our goal with MX vs. ATV Unleashed was to expand beyond motocross and create the most comprehensive off-road racing experience ever," said Scott Novis, president, Rainbow Studios. "We've used our extensive knowledge of off-road racing development to pull out all the stops, creating individual driving models for all nine vehicles and allowing up to six people to compete against one another online."

MX vs. ATV Unleashed brings Rainbow Studio's critically celebrated ATV know-how to the top-selling "Unleashed" franchise, allowing gamers to compete with ATVs, dirt bikes and an array of new vehicle types including monster trucks, sand-rails and 4x4 golf karts. Players will explore massive free-world environments containing hill climbs, machine challenges and short track races. The game will be playable online for up to six players allowing them to compete with the top professional ATV and Motocross riders in career mode.
