NCsoft today announces the latest chapter to its massively multiplayer game, Lineage. Dark Conquest, Episode 3: Life and Death launches today on North American servers. This episode continues the story of the Lastabad Dark Elf army, introducing the group’s headquarters in the Diad Fortress. The fortress is located in the underground region of Lineage’s fictional world of Aden.

Now, players can challenge the Lastabad in a pledge war and lay siege to their fortress. To win, players must best Baranka and Laia, two new and extremely dangerous boss monsters introduced in this episode.

Not only has the fiction of the game moved forward, Life and Death introduces a host of new spells for the Mage, Elf and Dark Elf races, as well as several new quests and a multitude of additional armor and weaponry.

The quests introduced in this episode allow players to collect ingredients to create brand new items. Players will collect such things as ancient armor, pet armor and Dark Elf weapons through these quests.

In addition, many character enhancements have been made, including an updated look for all character classes. Additional graphics have been added to accurately reflect the exact weapons that characters are armed with, and characters have additional attack sequences to offer more variety on the visual side of gameplay.

Lineage is currently available via free download at http://www.lineage.com or players can request a free CD via U.S. mail from NCsoft. Lineage comes with a 7-day free trial period. After that, a subscription of US$15 per month is required to continue playing. Customers can save money by purchasing four months in a single transaction at a rate of US$11.25 per month.
