Atari Appoints Marc Metis, SVP Marketing

Atari has named Marc Metis as its Senior Vice President, Marketing, effective immediately, it was announced today by Jim Caparro, President and Chief Executive Officer. Metis will be responsible for driving the marketing for all of Atari's interactive products and will oversee the Marketing team, including advertising, media buying and channel marketing, product marketing and publicity, and market research.

Atari has named Marc Metis as its Senior Vice President, Marketing, effective immediately, it was announced today by Jim Caparro, President and Chief Executive Officer of the Company, to whom he will report. Metis will be responsible for driving the marketing for all of Atari's interactive products and will oversee the Marketing team, including advertising, media buying and channel marketing, product marketing and publicity, and market research.

"We are extremely fortunate to have Marc join our team," stated Caparro in making the announcement. "Marc has a keen knowledge of our industry as well as a proven track record in building successful marketing strategies in interactive entertainment. He will be a huge asset as we mine for potential new revenue streams which extend successful franchises beyond gaming to a variety of entertainment mediums, and as we refocus our product strategy with an emphasis on meeting the demands of the consumer."

Prior to joining Atari, Metis was Senior Vice President, Brand Management at Acclaim Entertainment since 2002, where he restructured the company's brand portfolio and oversaw domestic marketing. Previously, Metis held roles in Digital Market Strategy and Product Management at Cablevision, one of the nation's leading cable companies, working with offerings including broadband, interactive TV, and VoIP. Prior to this, in 2000, he was Senior Vice President, Business Development at Fusient Media Ventures, a New York investment firm focused on internet and cable TV content and enabling technologies.

Earlier in his career, Metis was the Vice President of Global Brand Management at Activision, where from 1996 to 1999 he developed the company's console product strategy and initiated and managed blockbuster brands including Tony Hawk and Spider-Man. He began his career at McKinsey & Company in 1989, working with Fortune 500 media, telecommunications and consumer products companies.

Metis received his MBA from Harvard Business School in 1993 and graduated magna cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa from Dartmouth College with a degree in Economics in 1989.
