Players dominate the ice with NHL caliber goaltending, skating, checking and puck handling with the deeply enhanced animation system. Party Mode returns to the NHL 2K series and in NHL 2K6, brand new ways to play and new mini-games are available! Party Mode delivers a new spin to hockey action - playable for up to four players offline and online, NHL 2K6’s Party Mode includes these six new mini-games:

  • Stay On Target - Players skate to one of the three open targets to take control and then must stay on it as long as possible to gain points. If a player is without a target, they need to lay a big time check on an opponent to steal theirs away.
  • Break The Ice - Team based game where two teams are divided by a center wall. Players get the puck and score points by using the dump feature to destroy objects in the opposing area.
  • Speed Race - The first player to complete five laps around the course, which is littered with tons of obstacles, wins!
  • Super Smash - Players use the Intense Contact Controls on the Right Analog Stick and smash as many objects as they can to win.
  • Dodge - Players must avoid and dodge the constantly moving barrels. Make contact with a metal barrel five times and the player is out of the game. The last man standing wins!
  • Capture - Classic retake on capture-the-flag where the gamer moves his player to an opponent's target to get their flag. Bringing it back to the player’s home target will award a point. The first player to score on another player will receive a bonus point. If a player can last the whole game without getting scored on, they will win five extra points. If a player knocks over another player with their flag, they will garner a bonus point. It’s every man for himself!
