Scratches is a gripping first-person mystery adventure game that will keep the players glued to their monitors, with its story full of breathtaking twists and surprises, until the final shocking revelation. Its combination of inventory based and deductive style puzzles carefully integrated with the storyline, along with the possibility to freely roam the house, will immerse the players in the haunting atmosphere.

Set in and around a solitary Victorian mansion concealing a terrible secret, a long since forgotten story from the past emerges to haunt the present. A careful combination of inventory-based and deductive-style puzzles, integrated with a riveting storyline, non-linear gameplay, intricately detailed graphics, and an entrancing sound track, immerse you in a haunting gothic atmosphere until the final shocking revelation.

1963. James T. Blackwood, a most distinguished gentleman and a highly respected engineer, is accused of murdering his wife, an event that shocks the entire population of his hometown. Before even being able to defend his honour, James Blackwood suddenly dies of a heart attack, although it is rumored he commits suicide. Police investigations concerning the gruesome event are halted and the case is filed.

1964. Christopher Milton, an intimate friend of the Blackwood family, moves in to the house of the late James Blackwood, as stated in Blackwood's will, and retires from his job as a doctor, living the life of a recluse.

1975. Dr. Milton vanishes without a trace, never to be seen again.

1980. You arrive at your newly acquired home, an old Victorian house lost in the outskirts of Rothbury, a small market town in Northumberland, England. The weather does not look good, but you are charmed by this peaceful and quiet place. Perhaps not that quiet as the rooms of this exquisite mansion speak about past events whose echoes can still be heard through its walls - literally. As you set to uncover dark secrets, you slowly become aware of an alarming and terrifying fact: You are NOT alone

As famed horror writer, Michael Arthate, you arrive at Blackwood Manor, your newly acquired home, an old Victorian house lost in the outskirts of a small English market town. While the ominous weather bodes of darker days, you are initially charmed by this peaceful and quiet place. The pleasant stillness is soon broken, however, as the rooms of this exquisite, if faded glory, mansion speak of past events, their tales echoing through its walls. As the odd noises in the basement grow ever louder, you set about solving your sanctuary's long-held mystery.

Isolated by a washed out road, and in search of clues, you delve into every dark corner of the mansion and its untended grounds via a point-and -click interface. Examining, probing, and hunting your way through musty rooms, an overrun greenhouse, a sinister chapel, and a forbidding crypt, your investigation deepens, and you slowly become aware of one terrifying fact: you are not alone.

The game is scheduled for release March 1, 2006 and will retail for $19.99 (USD). "Scratches" is not yet rated by the ESRB.
