by Rainier on Dec. 13, 2006 @ 3:02 a.m. PST

Another day, another batch of games shipped to stores. Instead of giving them all their own posts, we grouped them, and so far there are announcements for:

Micro Machines v4 (NDS)

The ultimate pick-up-and-play racing game, Micro Machines v4 is the fastest, most fun mini racer with hundreds of cars to collect, loads of levels to race and tons of people to play.

Mixing miniature mayhem with maximum multiplayer racing, Micro Machines v4 arrives packed with knockabout, breakneck racing in the fastest scale miniatures, complete with explosive weapon power-ups. Letting players loose with hundreds of vehicles, including sport cars, street racers, stock cars, 4x4s, beach buggies, low riders and muscle cars, each with distinctive performance abilities, gamers will be racing their inch-long miniature motors around the Micro Machines house, garden and beyond where everyday household objects appear immense in size and can become lethal hazards.

As well as the familiar feel-good environments, Micro Machines v4 sees the racing world expand further than any previous Micro Machines game. Go beyond the house and garden tracks and discover what it’s like to race across house roofs, in the sewers, through supermarkets, museums and even down to the farm, with its danger-packed chicken coop!

Of course, it wouldn’t be Micro Machines without an arsenal of power-ups and weapons to collect and use against your opponents. Micro Machines v4 brings back all the missiles and bombs, but this time with new additions, including flamethrowers, heat-seeking missiles, plasma guns, and of course, the car-mounted giant hammer!

Starshatter: The Gathering Storm (PC)

Starshatter: The Gathering Storm presents both space flight combat sim fans and real time strategy addicts with a unique opportunity to experience both genres in one game. In Starshatter: The Gathering Storm, elements of real-time-strategy, like taking command of a battle to direct a battle with the ability to launch fighters and direct destroyers, is integrated seamlessly with classic fighter and starship combat.

Starshatter: The Gathering Storm allows gamers to wage an inter-galactic war at their own speed and level of involvement by combining fighter and starship combat in a single game. You begin the game as either a fighter pilot or the captain of a small Frigate-class starship where the knitty gritty of spaceship combat rages in every battle. As you gain experience on the frontlines, promotions and award will come your way allowing you to progress through the chain of command. With some luck and commitment, you may even end up commanding a massive fleet carrier with three wings of fighters and a complete escort of warships. Also, Starshatter: The Gathering Storm promotes airborne fighter combat to a first-class game component, allowing you to take-off and land at planetary bases, engage in aerial dogfights, and use air-to-ground missiles to destroy ground targets.

Starshatter: The Gathering Storm is also very modder-friendly. Because Starshatter: The Gathering Storm was designed from the ground up to support so many different play styles - from space fighter combat to airborne strikes to starship battles to fleet tactical encounters - you can use it to create mods for just about any popular science fiction universe you can think of.
