'Divinity' Sequel Gets Kynapse AI Middleware

by Rainier on Dec. 21, 2006 @ 2:11 a.m. PST

AI middleware prvider Kynogon has signed an agreement with Divinity developers Larian Studios that Kynapse would be used as the AI solution for their new role-playing game.

“It’s a next-generation game that demands cutting-edge technology. We are relying on multiple top-notch middleware solutions and Kynapse was smoothly integrated with all the other external technologies we are using. In addition, our requirements for AI in the game are very challenging. We have thousands of characters running on very large and extremely dynamic terrains. Kynapse was the natural choice for our AI needs.” Swen Vincke, Managing Director at Larian Studios, declared.

Pierre Pontevia, CEO of Kynogon, added: “One of the challenges middleware providers face is to make the integration of our SDK into the client’s toolchain as fast and trouble-free as possible. Larian’s use of multiple technologies provided a unique challenge but we are very happy with the results. We are looking forward to working with Larian as they are visionaries with ambitious AI specifications.”
