Capcom Brings Animated Series Based on Videogames To UMD

Capcom today announced that it is bringing animated series based on its Street Fighter and Darkstalkers videogames to UMD. Street Fighter Alpha: The Movie, 29 episodes of the Street Fighter II V animated series, Night Warriors Darkstalkers Revenge Alpha and Night Warriors Darkstalkers Revenge Omega.

Street Fighter II V, Volume 1 - 5 shows that Ken and Ryu still have a lot to learn. From the teeming back streets of Hong Kong to the banks of the Ganges River and the arenas of Barcelona, these two friends are out to unlock the secrets of the Worlds’ best fighters in order to complete a martial arts education begun together years before. But their enterprising expedition tothe far corners of the Earth exposes them to far more than new combat techniques.

Before long their considerable skills attract the attention of some dangerous characters – fearsome villains eager to harness the friends’ newfound talents in service tothe criminal organization known as “Shadowlaw.” Aided by the beautiful and fearsome Chun Li, Ken and Ryu struggle to resist the formidable might of Sagat, the brawn of the towering Zangief, and the talons of the devious Vega as they inch ever closer to the mysterious mastermind behind Shadowlaw.

The pulse-pounding sequel to the phenomenally popular Street Fighter II: V series, Street Fighter Alpha: The Movie sees the return of martial arts masters Ken and Ryu as they are brought together by the mysterious death of their master. But now, the two warriors must overcome a challenge unlike any they’ve faced before. Increasingly disturbed by the dark energies building within him, Ryu is unexpectedly confronted with the appearance of Shun – a boy claiming to be the long-lost brother he never knew. Soon, signs of their common lineage are revealed as Shun enters a martial arts competition and manifests the same fearsome Dark Hadou. But before Ryu has the chance to consider whether Shun’s timely appearance might be more than coincidental, agents of the insidious Shadowlaw organization kidnap the boy. To recover the child, Ryu must undertake the ultimate journey of self-discovery and learn to control the power threatening to consume him. But with his confidence waning, will he have what it takes to confront Akuma - the vicious lord of the Dark Hadou himself?

Based on Capcom’s popular Darkstalkers videogame, both anime properties are licensed from VIZ Media, LLC and contain two action packed episodes with over 90 minutes of compelling monster warrior animation. Bringing DVD picture quality to the PSP system, fans of the series will be enticed with the visual feast of anime episodes, bonus trailers and the redesigned menu system. The legendary story of Donovan and his band of fellow Darkstalker hunters lives on when the Night Warriors Darkstalkers Revenge Alpha and Omega movies are released in March 2006. Each UMD edition will retail for $19.99.

All the legends of night dwelling creatures are real. Yet there are only a few who have the power to withstand the mighty vampires, werewolves and ghosts that threaten humanity’s future. Donovan, a man with a mysterious past, is just one of those fighters who must stop the exiled vampire lord Demitri from subjugating humans in preparation of reclaiming his underworld throne. Yet unbeknownst to both warriors, another evil force has plans for world domination. Enter the demon world and witness the battle between the Darkstalkers characters and those who hunt them including the succubus Morrigan, cat woman Felicia, sisters Mei-Ling and Hsien-ko, and the telekinetic young girl Anita.
