The old adage “defense wins championships” applies to every sport, especially in the game of baseball. Whether it’s the groundball that rolled through Buckner’s legs that cost the Red Sox a game or the miraculous home plate cutoff by Jeter that saved a game from Oakland A’s, solid fielding fundamentals are crucial to winning a game. Major League Baseball 2K6 brings numerous new additions to playing the field, delivering amazing animations and realistic controls that make fielding in a baseball game an exciting challenge.

How a player moves on a ball is an important aspect to fielding and with Major League Baseball 2K6’s Pure Motion Physics, gamers will experience the fun challenge of getting the proper jump on a fly ball. Fielders now have movement tied to momentum, bringing much more realistic movement to the game. This new movement system brings a ton of new animations ranging from new diving catches, double play animations, and even catch attempts while leaning into the foul seating section. Player collisions bring even more realism to the diamond, as fielders must be aware of their positioning to avoid being on the highlight “blooper” reel. All these elements and much more lend to a challenging and fun baseball fielding experience.
