'Cake Mania' Announced

by Rainier on May 16, 2006 @ 11:25 a.m. PDT

eGames today announced that it has partnered with Sandlot Games to release Cake Mania in retail outlets worldwide. The game is a colorful title that has players creating a bakery from scratch, earning money to buy new equipment, and, best of all, designing customized cakes.

Cake Mania puts players in the shoes of Jill, a young girl who returns home from culinary school and decides to start her own bakery when she realizes that her family’s business has gone belly up. The game offers total control - the bakery will flourish or fail based only on the player’s decisions. Jill’s world is populated with interesting locales and hilarious characters that make the game engaging and visually appealing for all ages. Keep the hungry grannies, blushing brides, and picky food critics happy with hundreds of possible cake combination and watch the business grow.

Cake Mania originally began as an online game, and scored so highly with online users that it will now be brought to retail. This new retail version offers gamers all of the fun of the original online game along with 36 exclusive new levels - 80% more than the online version - and a brand new locale in which to build the business.

“At eGames we believe that games can be fun and educational at the same time,” said Lars Batista, Vice President of Product Development for eGames. “Cake Mania is one of those rare titles that strikes the perfect balance. This is the best family game to come along in a long time.”

Cake Mania is expected to be released in September, 2006 at a suggested retail price of $19.99.
