Thursday June 15, 2006 Shipping Announcements

by Rainier on June 15, 2006 @ 10:22 a.m. PDT

Another day, another batch of games shipped to stores. Instead of giving them all their own posts, we grouped them, and so far there are announcements for:

Harpoon 3: Advanced Naval Warfare (PC)

Matrix Games and Advanced Gaming Systems are extremely pleased to announce that Harpoon 3: Advanced Naval Warfare is now available for sale via the Matrix Games Online Store for a digital download price of US $49.99. Boxed copies will be available next week.

Harpoon 3: Advanced Naval Warfare enables the faithful modeling and representation of the full range of modern air and naval operations; including submarine & anti-submarine warfare, carrier battlegroup operations, convoy actions, land-based air operations, employment of nuclear weapons, amphibious and air-assault operations, massive fleet engagements and more.

David Heath, Director of Operations for Matrix Games, said “Matrix Games is proud to be associated with Advanced Gaming Systems in the release of this ultimate simulation of modern naval warfare. We know many wargamers the world over have eagerly awaited this newest edition of the Harpoon series, and we’re happy to deliver it.”

Harpoon 3's scale and location of scenarios is virtually unlimited. Whether you want to simply test an Aegis cruiser against a Kirov-class battlecruiser or completely model World War 3 or a possible conflict in the Western Pacific. Harpoon 3 gives you the tools - the only real limit is how far you want to go!

Harpoon 3: Advanced Naval Warfare also gives you access to other players over the Internet, allowing two to six players plus additional spectators to be engaged in a single game. When not shooting the seas up in multiplayer mode, a single player mode is available allowing you to access any one of the scenarios and fight against a savvy A.I. opponent that knows how to control and coordinate large and small forces alike.

Harpoon 3 Advanced Naval Warfare will support third party databases, two of which will be announced on the Matrix website on launch. These are in addition to the updated Legacy database and the scenarios shipping with the game (giving you over 300 scenarios total). Also included is a configuration and launcher system to allow for easy tuning of the many configuration options addressed by this sophisticated simulation. Additionally, for ultimate control over your gaming experience, Harpoon 3 Advanced Naval Warfare ships with the Scenario Editor, and features two database editors (to be shipped later). These provide the tools to create your own fleets, weapons, and scenarios.

For recent owners of Harpoon 3 who purchased it from Advanced Gaming Systems, Matrix Games is offering a discounted upgrade program set to begin next week. For more details, please see the following upgrade page.
