Former VP of Global Online at EA Lars Buttler, and Might & Magic creator Jon Van Caneghem, who also founded New World Computing, have officially launched Trion World Network Inc., the publisher and developer of games and original entertainment for the broadband era.

Trion’s mission is to revolutionize entertainment by combining the best of online, gaming and traditional media. By designing and developing powerful new technologies, new content, and new business philosophies, Trion is poised to be a leader in the emerging global multi-billion dollar broadband entertainment market.

“With ubiquitous broadband, online means leisure; people express themselves in social networks and experience interactive entertainment and games in massively connected worlds,” Dr. Lars Buttler, co-founder and CEO, Trion World Network, said. “We started Trion to leverage all the inherent capabilities of broadband, provide original entertainment, and define the future of media in the global broadband era.”

“Broadband has created a new frontier in game development, similar to the first explosion of game development in the 1980’s,” Jon Van Caneghem, co-founder, president and chief creative officer, commented. “Designers are free to be creative and explore concepts and designs that were previously impossible or unheard of.”

Trion has assembled a world-class team of gaming and online veterans with proven success and talent in business, original content development and technology and who have developed and shipped more than 100 original titles.

The company is funded by Tier 1 Silicon Valley venture capital firms DCM - Doll Capital Management and Trinity Ventures.
