IDV announced it has signed SpeedTree RT licenses with Artplant AS, Bandai Namco, Cheyenne Mountain Entertainment (Stargate Online), Cryptic Studios (unannounced title), Epiphany Games, and LucasArts. These new SpeedTree-powered games will run the spectrum from next gen shooters to MMOs and RPG titles, most of them scheduled for 2008.

“SpeedTree is one of the few tools available that not only performs as advertised, it goes beyond the user’s expectations,” said Colin McLaughlin, Director of Technology, Cheyenne Mountain Entertainment. “The textures, shadowing and tree cluster options give us unprecedented control over the appearance of foliage in Stargate Worlds.”

Mr. McLaughlin added, “The Stargate Worlds universe encompasses thousands of planets with myriad environments. With SpeedTree, we can bring each environment to life with realistic plants quickly and efficiently.”

Stargate Worlds is an MMORPG based on the longest-running science fiction television series in history, Stargate SG-1, and its spin-offs. The game is about modern combat, exploring new worlds and encountering exotic cultures.

“Our main focus at Cryptic Studios is to allow the player to feel fully immersed in the universes we create,” said Shayne Herrera, the Art Director of Cryptic Studios. “SpeedTree allows us to create extremely beautiful foliage and dense forests simply and efficiently."

SpeedTree will be used in an as-yet-unannounced title under development at Cryptic Studios.
