'Great Battles of the Middle Ages' (ALL) Announced - Screens

The History Channel and Slitherine Strategies announce the development of Great Battles of the Middle Ages is based on the story of the Hundred Years War and will feature a completely new graphic engine and a totally new game play system that will allow the player to be in complete control of massive armies.

“The huge commercial success of our first release has pointed us in the right direction,” said Iain McNeil, Director of Slitherine. “For us it’s a fresh challenge to develop a game that will embrace new audiences of the next-gen consoles. It’s also an opportunity to listen to the community of thousands of players we established with The History Channel Great Battles of Rome. We are sure we will match their expectations with the release of our next title.”

The new title is based on the story of the Hundred Years War and will release next year. It will feature a completely new graphic engine and a totally new game play system that will allow the player to be in complete control of massive armies. From the thunderous charge of the knights to the men-at-arms fighting for their lives in hand-to-hand combat, the game will recreate the epic feel of medieval battles, featuring thousands of characters simultaneously.

The History Channel Great Battles of the Middle Ages will integrate film clips from The History Channel programming library.

The History Channel Great Battles of the Middle Ages will feature a new engine optimized for next generation consoles and will be released in 2008.
