'Fury' Gets Last-Minute Makeover

by Rainier on Oct. 5, 2007 @ 1:27 a.m. PDT

Fury is the ultimate competitive online RPG. It takes the best elements of an MMO - combat, advancement and teamwork - and blends them with the best elements of an FPS - instant action, fast pacing and diverse game types.

Fury is the ultimate competitive player versus player massively multiplayer online game. Combining the character advancement of a role-playing game with the high-speed intensity of a first-person shooter, Fury is perfect for PC gamers who want to waste enemies, not time.

The Winds of Change are Blowing

"We have watched, we have played, we have listened, and we’ve decided to make some changes – some BIG changes." This is the first sentence in an announcement we have made in the lead up to the second competition weekend of Fury Challenge. This weekend Fury Challenge will run on a single, merged, realm. The next time you play Fury after the Challenge is over you will be playing a different game. The same game, yet a different game. Here is a brief list of some of the things we will be changing:

* Add a new Training Grounds map for new players
* Separate premade groups from random teams in matchmaking
* Completely revised Incarnation system - all characters have 1000 Equip Points
* ...and more!

Fury Challenge – Single Realm Weekend

The second and final competition weekend of Fury Challenge gets underway in less than 24 hours! We’ve merged the servers. All players will now be able to play with and against each other. The more players that come along mean better match-ups and shorter queue times. See you in-game.

Earn Triple Gold!!

Because we had to take the servers down for a couple of days to get the single Realm changes done and tested, we’ve decided to reward all players with triple Gold, Items and Essence from battles. As part of ongoing balances to the economy, we’ve levelled out the loot table difference between winners and losers (so there is now a 20% difference between winning and losing). Equalizing these two values has resulted in a net increase to all participants. To see the full list of patch notes for this weekend, check the Fury launcher 'Patch Notes' tab.

What’s the easiest way to save $30?

Play Fury Challenge this weekend and complete 10 matches in Bloodbath, 10 matches in Elimination and 10 matches in Vortex. That’s all you have to do to win 3 x $10 Fury Game Cards. (Ok, you also have to be in the top 5,000 but unless you play Fury blindfolded, there’s a good chance you’ll be in the top bracket). This translates into an awesome starting bank balance of 360 in-game Gold for your retail copy of Fury.

And if you live in the US or Canada, there’s a good chance you’ll also win a 12 Pack of CybershotsZ Energy Drink and a month subscription to GameRail, the high-speed gamers Internet network.

Fury, developed down under by Auran, will be available for PC on October 16.
