'Mahjongg Artifacts' Announced

by Rainier on Feb. 21, 2007 @ 12:36 a.m. PST

Got Game Entertainment announced a North American retail publishing deal for Mahjongg Artifacts based on the traditional Chinese game, which some believe can be traced back to Confucius, featuring three innovative game modes, gorgeous backgrounds, and songs inspired by ancient cultures.

The three innovative game modes of “Mahongg Artifacts” include a Story Mode featuring an epic quest for lost relics, a Classic Mode in which players choose the layout they want to play, and the breathtaking Endless Mode in which players remove tiles from an ever-rising tower of game pieces. Imbued with 27 beautiful backgrounds and 6 atmospheric songs, “Mahjongg Artifacts” will appeal to both novice and expert. Special tiles allow players to use new strategies to clear layouts, and high scores can be achieved by earning bonuses for skillful gameplay and collecting trophies for special accomplishments.

"Whether Mahjongg originated in 500 BCE with Confucius or in the 1800s as other believe, the truly addictive quality of the game proves why it has withstood the test of time," said Got Game President Howard Horowitz. "With its innovative game modes and beautiful backgrounds, 'Mahjongg Artifacts' will bring fans a thrilling new level of addiction."

Mahjongg Artifacts, rated "E" for Everyone, for the PC is scheduled for retail release March 5, 2007 with a debut MSRP of $19.99 (USD).
